MRI

What is MRI?

MRI combines a powerful magnetic field with a sophisticated computer system and radio waves to produce detailed pictures of organs and tissues, without the use of radiation, in order to diagnose a variety of medical conditions. The images created are sharp, clear and 3-dimensional.

Our short-bore, high-field scanner is open at both ends, well lit and ventilated.  The image quality of the high field strength is superior and the scan times are shorter than the low field strength scanners. A 2-way intercom system and call button are used so you and the technologist are able to talk to each other during the exam.

IN GENERAL

1. Please notify us 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep your appointment.
2. Please come to your appointment 30 minutes early to allow for the completion of necessary paperwork.
3. Tell your doctor and the technologist if you are pregnant or think you might be.
4. Bring Insurance cards and a picture ID and your doctor’s order if you have it.
5. Bring previously completed related studies, such as X-Rays, CT, or MRI scans on CD if available.
6. Be prepared to change into a patient gown.

You cannot be examined by MRI if you have:

1. Pacemaker
2. Cochlear implants
3. Metallic fragments in one or both eyes
